Photo Friday New Salem, Illinois

Before Abraham Lincoln came to Springfield, Ill. he lived in New Salem. This is where he studied to be a lawyer and where he worked. The town died but has been reconstructed in the area where it once stood. It is a very interesting place to visit. Unfortunately the day we were there the temperature was over 95 degrees and humid!!

The business Lincoln was a partner in.

Welcome to New Salem.

  1. Very nice - my boys are very much into history and Presidents. We are planning to visit all of the presidential sites eventually. My sons will be participating in Close Up this coming spring where they go with other students to Washington DC and we can't wait to visit the Ford Theater and the house across the street where Lincoln died. My son's loved the movie Lincoln too!

  2. Springfield , Ill. and New Salem are great for Lincoln. We do a lot of Presidential sites as well. You would love Charlottesville, Va and the three residents homes.
