Wilmington, DEL …As the temperatures drop and the
leaves begin to turn, some of the area’s favorite fall festivals
and fairs return to Greater Wilmington & Brandywine Valley.
Here are five that shouldn’t be missed:
Steamin’ Days at Marshall Steam Museum at Auburn
Heights (September 4, October 2, November 6, 2016)
The Marshall Steam Museum in nearby Yorklyn boasts the
world’s largest collection of operating steam cars. On the first
Sunday of the month, September through November, these
beauties are out and about; visitors can
actually take a ride in them or board a 1/8-gauge coal-burning
locomotive for a 5/8-mile trip through the grounds at
Auburn Heights, Delaware’s newest state park.
There’s also plenty of free steam-popped popcorn to enjoy.
Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest
(September 16-18, 2016)
Enjoy three days of authentic German entertainment and cuisine
at the Delaware Saengerbund in Newark, Delaware,
just minutes south of the city of Wilmington. The Enzian
Volkstanzgruppe, a Bavarian dance group, performs in
traditional costumes with the men dressed in Lederhosen
and the women wearing Dirndl. Music is provided by liv
bands and the selection of food is absolutely awesome. Indulge
yourself with grilled Bratwurst, Weisswuurst,
frankfurters, pretzels and rollmops followed by Torten and
plum cake. Bavarian souvenirs are available for
purchase and the amusement rides are included in the price

Taste of Newark (September 25, 2016)
This annual culinary festival is held on the picturesque
Old College Lawn on the University of Delaware’s
Main Campus in Newark from 12 Noon to 3 PM.
Fifty of the area’s finest restaurants will be joined
by more than 30 wine and beer distributors.
Rivertowns Ride & Festival (October 1, 2016)
This one-day community festival and cycling event is held
simultaneously in two of Delaware’s historic
waterfront towns, Delaware City and Historic New Castle.
The cycling event along the Route 9
Corridor attracts both competitive cyclists and
recreational bikers. Time trials start at 11 AM in Historic
New Castle followed by recreational rides at 12 Noon.
The day’s activities include craft beer festivals,
food vendors, games and entertainment for all ages

Vendemmia da Vinci Wine Festival
(October 9, 2016)
More than 2,000 people are expected to gather in beautiful
Bellevue State Park to celebrate the harvest of the
grape during one of the premier Italian American Wine
and Food festivals on the East Coast and
Wilmington’s biggest fall party. Sample great wines
from every region of Italy and delicacies prepared by
more than 25 of the area’s finest restaurants while
enjoying four hours of professional musical
