Omni Hotel, Charlottesville Va.

The Omni hotel has an excellent location in downtown Charlottesville, within a block of the downtown mall. Even better, it has complimentary parking in a parking garage. Valet parking is available if you prefer to let someone take care of your vehicle.

You know you are going to have a great stay immediately. The desk staff goes above and beyond to make sure every guest feels welcome and to quickly solve any issues that might arise. We found when we got to our room that it had two double beds instead of a king. Within seconds we had been transferred to a gorgeous king room with an atrium view.

The lobby is spacious and beautifully designed and connects with an atrium with a water fountain. The elevators have a glass wall so you can appreciate the design of the atrium every time you go up or down. I loved the flavored fresh water that is offered in the lobby. The citrus is delicious but the cucumber is even better.

The rooms are spacious with muted colors. The pillows are perfect and the mattress is extremely comfortable. A white comforter guarantees that you will be as snug as a bug in a rug. A comfortable chair and ottoman is off to the side of the bed with a pole lamp and makes a good work area with a laptop. There is however a work area on the counter with a chair as well as well as storage drawers and a mini fridge.

The bathroom is petite, there is just no other way to describe it. It does however, have everything you need including a nice shower head and good water pressure. The towels are plush and there are plenty of amenities. In the morning, USA Today will be left outside of your door for you to enjoy. WiFi is fast and free and we enjoyed are over 50 channel choices on the TV. The room was spotlessly clean and very contemporary in design.

If you have the option, choose a rate that includes the buffet breakfast, it is exceptional. From the slow cooked steel cut oatmeal, to the amazing bakery Danish, everything was first class. The fresh fruit was beautiful and plentiful and there was also an abundance of topping to add to the oatmeal. What impressed me most was the almond butter, Nutella and other wonderful toppers for toast, muffins or bagels.

If all this wasn’t enough, there are sausage patties with blueberries, bacon and sausage, breakfast potatoes, scrambled eggs, pancakes and you can have an omelet or fried eggs made by the chef. You also get your juice and coffee as part of your breakfast.

On the second floor there is a health club which includes a hot tub for 10, a beautiful pool and also a workout room. I was impressed by the hot tub; I have never seen one that size at a hotel but unfortunately didn’t have time to try it out.
